Legacy of Love Scholarships

Supporting Children through Loss, One Scholarship at a Time

Launching June 2025

Losing a parent or guardian is one of the most profound challenges a child can face. The Legacy of Love Scholarships provide financial assistance to help children and young adults navigate their grief while securing a brighter future. Whether through bereavement camps, higher education funding, or long-term financial stability, our goal is to honor lost loved ones by ensuring their children receive the support they need.

Empowering Grieving Children for a Brighter Future

At Life Interrupted Foundation, we have seen firsthand how devastating sudden loss can be—not just for surviving spouses and partners, but for children left behind. Many families we support are not only grieving the emotional loss but also struggling financially in the aftermath of a loved one’s passing.

The Legacy of Love Scholarships were created to honor the memory of those gone too soon by investing in the future of children who have experienced the sudden loss of a parent or sibling. Each $2,500 scholarship supports a child’s path forward—whether through college tuition, 529 accounts, long-term financial planning, or access to healing experiences like bereavement camps. Our goal is to provide hope, stability, and opportunity in the midst of unimaginable grief.

Scholarships are awarded quarterly, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis. At the end of each quarter—on the last day of March, June, September, and December—we review all applications submitted to date. Nominations are welcome from family members, friends, teachers, and others, and parents may also apply directly on behalf of their child. If a child is nominated, their parent or guardian will be required to complete and submit the formal scholarship application.

Legacy of Love Provides Support for:

Bereavement Camp Sponsorship

Grief camps create a safe and healing space for children who have lost a loved one. We sponsor children to attend these camps, giving them access to grief support, peer connections, and meaningful experiences to foster resilience.

Higher Education Assistance

We offer scholarships for students pursuing college, trade school, or vocational programs to help alleviate the financial burden of tuition and supplies after the loss of a parent or guardian. We can provide funding towards a 529 account to help a child save for educational expenses in the future.

Long-Term Financial Stability

For older children or children who do not plan to attend further education, a portion of their scholarship can be placed into a Roth IRA, helping them build financial security as they transition into adulthood.

Children

Children who experience early loss are at a greater risk for...

  • Academic struggles due to emotional distress.

  • Financial hardship without the long-term support of their deceased parent or guardian.

  • Increased emotional challenges that can impact their future well-being.

To ensure that no child is left behind in their grief journey, we are expanding our support to include Legacy of Love Scholarships, launching in June 2025. This initiative is designed to help children heal, continue their education, and build a stable future despite their loss.

The Legacy of Love Scholarship is open to all children who have experienced unexpected loss of a parent or sibling within the 12 months of the loss. This includes families that Life Interrupted Foundation has already helped or is actively helping through our programs.

Scholarships will be rewarded quarterly. If an application is submitted but not chosen for scholarship, the application will be considered for the remainder of the calendar year.
